How to Make Chocolate Edibles: Rosin Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

We’ve already shown you how to make cannabis gummies and even 100% solventless rosin vape cartridges, but now we’re stepping it up with something even more decadent, Rosin Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. While they might sound, look, and taste like a treat straight from a gourmet chocolatier, they’re surprisingly easy to make at home.

Lowtemp has teamed up with Carlie aka My Favorite Baker to bring you this simple yet sophisticated recipe. In just a few steps, you’ll be combining rich chocolate, creamy peanut butter, and perfectly dosed rosin for a homemade edible that’s as delicious as it is effective.

While the above video shows you just how easy the process is, this article dives deeper into important tips for accurately dosing your rosin chocolate edibles.

Rosin Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Here’s the full ingredient list and instructions to make these delicious edibles.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate
  • 1½ teaspoons coconut oil
  • 0.32 grams decarbed rosin (see below for dosing instructions)

Instructions

  1. In a heat-safe bowl, melt the chocolate over a double boiler. If you want an EXTRA glossy, professional finish, you can temper your chocolate during this step, but it is not necessary.
  2. Emulsify the rosin in the coconut oil and then add it to the melted (or tempered) chocolate. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together peanut butter, butter, and powdered sugar.
  4. Pipe 7 grams of chocolate into each foil wrapper and freeze for 10 minutes.
  5. Pipe the peanut butter mixture on top of the chocolate, leaving a gap around the edges.
  6. Add 8 grams of chocolate on top of the peanut butter.
  7. Top with flaky salt and freeze for 10 minutes.

Calculating Potency for Your Chocolate Edibles

Accurately dosing your homemade rosin edibles is crucial, and calculating the correct amount of rosin to use is the key to consistent potency. Here's how to calculate it based on the recipe:

  1. Determine the desired potency per treat:
In this recipe, we want 20 mg of THC per treat.
  2. Multiply by the number of treats:
Since this recipe makes 12 treats, the total THC needed for 20 mg treats is: 20 mg x 12 treats = 240 mg total THC
  3. Check the potency of your rosin:
If your rosin has a THC potency of 74.8%, that means for every gram of rosin, you have 748 mg of THC: 74.8% THC x 10 = 748 mg THC per gram of rosin.
  4. Calculate the amount of rosin needed:
To get 240 mg of THC, divide the total THC needed by the THC per gram of rosin: 240 mg total THC / 748 mg THC per gram = 0.32 grams of rosin.

So, for this recipe, you'll need 0.32 grams of decarbed rosin to achieve the desired 20 mg per peanut butter cup.
